FAVORITE SCI-FI OR FANTASY BOOK?

Frank Herbert's DUNE is my favorite sci-fi novel. The world-building and lore is VAST. The socio-political allegory remains topical. It's a hefty tome that rewards repeat reading and inspired so many other amazing works. I also love love love Octavia Butler's whole catalogue and many works from Samuel Delany as well.

Katy is many things: a singer, an actress, a stage combatant, a teaching artist but she is one thing above all else: a sci-fi and fantasy lover!

FAVORITE SCI-FI OR FANTASY BOOK?

My favorite fantasy book will forever be "The Hobbit". My dad read it to me or went through it with me when I was old enough to read for myself. It's broad-scope, dramatic, emotional adventure. I'll never forget the way the start of Bilbo's journey made me feel, the chills I got when he fell into Gollum's cave in that iconic scene. The language is beautiful. The imagery is clear. I will love this book forever and always, both for the way it effected fantasy material the world over, and for the personal significance it has for me.
