A Midsummer Night Scream

September 17 – November 1, 2026

Resident Production at the Greenhouse Theater Center

"The wood always keeps what it loves."

Sameer "Sam" Chaudhry does not want much. He simply wants one final weekend at the family lake house before Dimitri gets married and forgets Sam exists. Most of all, Sam wants to talk about that night by the lake last summer - a memory Dimitri completely denies ever happened.

But as the sun sets and the group opens a jar of local "Purple Pansy" moonshine, the carefully crafted masks of high-society expectations begin to slip. Mia, a sharp young woman trapped in a hollow engagement to Dimitri, finds herself drawn back to Xander, the rebellious outsider who has always been her true North. Meanwhile, Nick Bottom, a frantic aspiring playwright, stalks the dark corridors with a handheld microcassette recorder, determined to capture the raw, honest sound of the unraveling of his friends.

As a vengeful Stag-King begins his hunt, these five friends will learn a terrifying truth: nature does not forget, the roots keep score, and the course of true love doesn't just run rough - it runs red.

Step deep into a forgotten forest where ancient folklore and modern chaos collide to create an unpredictable, dangerous realm of magic. When a group of unwitting travelers accidentally crosses the threshold into the deep woods, they find themselves trapped in the crossfire of a centuries-old feud between trickster spirits and primordial forces.

Content Advisory: This performance contains intense horror themes and mature content. Audience discretion is advised for graphic slasher-style violence, gore, explicit body horror, physical assault, substance use, and the non-consensual outing of a character. The production also features highly immersive and disorienting technical elements, including sudden loud noises, heavy radio static, high-frequency audio distortion, atmospheric jump scares, and intense, saturated strobe lighting effects.
