Paragon is the world’s largest science fiction and fantasy play festival. Every year, Otherworld Theatre Company brings dozens of short, original genre plays to life on stage, showcasing visionary writers from across the globe.
We are looking for fresh, imaginative stories that challenge the boundaries of stagecraft and bring new worlds to light.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Whether your play is a drama, a comedy, or a dramedy, as long as it has a beating speculative heart, we want to see it. We are particularly excited by:

Fresh Perspectives: We want our stage to reflect the incredible diversity of our global and local communities. Diverse voices and stories are highly encouraged.

Exciting Sub-Genres: Bring on your Steampunk, Time-Travel, Romantasy, Cyberpunk, and Space Operas!

Imaginative Retellings: We love clever, nerdy spins on mythology, classic literature, sci-fi lore, or pop culture icons.

New World-Building: Take us somewhere we have never been before.
SUBMISSIONS
Please review our technical requirements before submitting your script:

Genre: Your play must be squarely within the genres of Science Fiction and/or Fantasy (or contain significant sci-fi/fantastical elements).

Length: We accept plays from 5 minutes to 60 minutes in length. (Note: 10-minute plays written for 2 to 3 actors are strongly encouraged and have the highest likelihood of selection.)

Submission Limit: Maximum of two (2) plays per playwright.

Formatting: Please submit your script as a PDF. Make sure the play’s title and your name are clearly written on both the script itself and in the PDF’s file name.

Originality: The play should be unpublished, though we happily welcome scripts that have been featured in other festivals.

Fees: There is no submission fee. Playwrights retain all rights to their work.
